Center Picture: Private Joel Smith, CSA was buried in Grimes County's Odd Fellow's Cemetery without a headstone. The Greys recently obtained and set this headstone in his honor.

The Grimes County Greys faithfully maintains all of the known graves of Confederate Veterans buried in Grimes County.

Since most of these veterans were buried over 100 years ago, many of their headstones have deteriorated. When this happens the Greys will set a new headstone in honor of the Veteran.

In addition to maintenance, the Greys Memorial Committee also oversees the decoration of the graves. Flowers and miniature flags are placed on the graves regularly.
